The Experience
Your experience includes knowledge development lectures which will give you a comprehensive grounding in dive theory, during pool practice dives and four open water qualifying dives with your PADI instructor. You will learn about the fundamentals of scuba diving, including diving equipment and techniques.
Vital info
Min. age varies from 10-12yrs depending on the venue. You must be reasonably healthy. Check if you have any medical conditions affecting your ability to participate, for instance asthmatics or those with heart conditions cannot take part without a doctor's written consent. All participants are required to sign a medical declaration and disclaimer before commencing the diving course.
The Weather
The weather will not affect your lectures and pool sessions. However your open water dives will be weather dependent. Your PADI centre will make arrangements suitable for the weather conditions.
Session Length
The course takes in total 3 weekdays for theory (Thursday, Tuesday & Thursday) , 1 weekend (Saturday & Sunday) for pool sessions and 1 weekend (Saturday & Sunday) for qualifying dives. You will do your 4 open water qualifying dives immediately after pool practice. Please note that this package includes qualifying dives in a dam/lake near Johannesburg.
Dress code
Please bring a swimming costume and towel. All hard gear will be provided and soft gear (wet suit, snorkel, fins & mask) can be purchased or rented at preferential rates. Personal snorkelling gear may be rented at R180 per day per person however if you decide to buy your own gear we will deduct the hired price.

Other info
On successful completion of this course you will qualify as a PADI Open Water Diver, which means that you can dive anywhere in the world without instructor supervision. This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure.
Entrance fees to Bass Lake or Miracle waters which is where your qualifying dives take place is excluded. Fee is R60 or R40 respectively per day (for two days).
