More Information
The Experience Experience the excitement of being face to face with a shark. The cage is a floating drifting cage and two divers enter the cage at one time. The air goes via a hose from the boat to the cage. There is a 300mm freeboard above the water line which allows you to float on the surface whilst breathing normally in the confines of the cage.
Vital info You will need at least an open water one diving qualification to dive in the cage. All divers will be screened by the dive master and they will require your dive number. Preference will be given to qualified divers, non qualified may snorkel or surface view. You must be reasonably healthy to dive. No children under 12 and they must be accompanied by an adult. If required seasick tablets should be taken on the day at 07h00, we recommend "Stugeron" or "Avomine".
The Weather This is a weather dependant activity. Launch time varies with tides, full moon, wind and general weather conditions. Exact time of launch can only be confirmed the evening before. Allow at least 2-3 days in the area in case we have to reschedule your experience.
Session Length The excursion and time at sea is approximately 5 hours.
Numbers Numbers on the day will be 10 passengers and 2 crew members per boat.
Spectators No spectators.
Dress code Please bring a swimming costume and a towel, sunblock and sunglasses, a warm sweater or windbreaker and comfortable shoes. Underwater disposable cameras can be purchased. If required seasick tabs should be taken on the day at 07.00h, we recommend "Stugeron" or "Avomine". No diving gear necessary as all the equipment will be supplied.
Availability All our centres are open throughout the year, weekdays and weekends. The high season for sharks starts around mid. February with the best months being March through to September. It is recommended that you book 4-6 weeks in advance. Allow at least 3 days in the area in case we need to reschedule your experience due to bad weather. Boats do not wait so be on time. Any clients later than 15 min will have to be ferried out to the boat at an additional charge.
Other info Surface viewing of the White Sharks is spectacular and is closely observed from right next to the boat. Don't forget White Sharks are surface feeders. The cages are made from 12mm steel and all cages are fully galvanised. It is not in the nature of the sharks to attack the cage.
